Water 4 Food

“Everything Green We Eat, Needs Water to Grow!”

Water4Food Australia is a community-based, non-partisan program maintaining a dialogue with the Australian and NSW governments seeking to protect water allocations for the production of food in the Murray, Murrumbidgee, Lachlan Valley and Lower Murray Darling catchments.

The Riverina and Murray Regional Organisation of Councils RAMROC is coordinating this important community and government relations strategy on behalf of 18 local government councils and their communities of around 200,000 people in south-west New South Wales.

The objectives of the W4F program are to roll out an integrated strategy to protect communities, food producers and processors from the impacts of:

  • political and regulatory responses to drought and climate change
  • market reforms which unfairly restrict the availability of water for food production
  • environmental extremism
