Positions Vacant
There are currently two (2) vacant positions within the Berrigan Shire Council.
Water and Safety Officer
Berrigan Shire Council is seeking to employ an enthusiastic self starter for a diverse and challenging position within Council.
The position will be graded at Band 6 within Berrigan Shire Council’s salary system with a range of $38988.88 to $42473.01 per annum plus 9% super, a standard 9 day – 70 hour fortnight, with the opportunity for overtime during pool season.
The role consists of three core responsibilities
• Water Revenue
To efficiently and effectively undertake Council’s water meter reading and billing operations and procedures. Meter reading is largely an electronic process with readings gathered remotely from a vehicle driving by metered properties. The position will also be responsible for the preparation of rate notice files and responding to customer bill enquiries.
• Public Pool Supervision
To supervise the operation of the pool facilities in accordance with Council requirements and other regulations, ensuring their safe and efficient operation.
• Risk Management
To assist with the implementation and ongoing development of Risk Management and Occupational Health & Safety systems. This will include undertaking inspections of Council’s facilities and activities, preparing reports relating to compliance with relevant standards and developing and monitoring plans for improvements.

Traineeship in Office Administration
Berrigan Shire Council is seeking applications from persons interested in undertaking a 12 month traineeship in Office Administration within the Council’s Corporate Services Department.
The key responsibilities for this position are:
• Word processing and data entry
• Mail
• Receipting
• Reception/Switchboard Operation
• Filing
• General Office Support
The position is ideal for a school leaver who has a current driver’s licence, is confident with customer contact and has good interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to work as a team member and to assist others is important.
