MAYOR’S MESSAGE

Over recent weeks I have had the pleasure in observing several milestones in the Shire’s development.

Firstly, I attended the opening celebration for the new IGA Supermarket at Berrigan. This new facility sees a significant investment by Roger and Dale King to relocate from the old "Big Store" supermarket, also in Chanter Street. Roger, Dale and their staff have done a great job in developing and opening the new store. Berrigan residents now have a first class facility that should encourage local shopping.

Secondly, I attended the 20 years celebration for K & A Foods at Finley. Anna and Kevin Tengstrom have developed a first class business over their twenty years at Finley. While the business commenced in modest facilities, the equipment and facilities now employed by the business are the best available. Anna and Kevin are strong supporters of the Shire community and I would encourage residents to drop in and see just what services they can provide to you.

Australia Day celebrations are just around the corner again and will be conducted at Barooga. If you are aware of anyone or a group that should be nominated for an award now is the time to act. Nominations close on 13th November 2009. Further information regarding Award categories and the nomination process are included in this Bulletin Board.
