Draft Berrigan Shire Local Environmental Plan (LEP) 2013

11/03/2013

The Berrigan Shire has produced the 2013 draft Local Environmental Plan (LEP) which is now available for public viewing.

An LEP is a legal document which identifies what development can happen where, when Council approval is needed and how that development may need to be designed and managed.

The NSW Government has created a standard LEP template for the State. The use of this template means that all councils will have similar planning rules and requirements across the State. The LEP template requires Councils to use a lot of the same clauses, definitions and land use zones. Councils may add controls which address local planning issues if approved by the Department of Planning and Infrastructure. As far as possible, draft Berrigan LEP 2012 will move existing controls from Berrigan LEP 1992 into the LEP State template.
