A practice guide for working with families from pre-birth to eight years

A practice guide for working with families from pre-birth to eight years is available to view on our website.

This guide was created to enable professionals and practitioners to share information about early childhood development in a consistent and compelling way with parents, families and the community.

Parenting is a primary influence on children’s development, and parents, families and the community can provide children with an enriching environment and nurturing relationships to support growth and development.  This guide was created because parents revealed, through extensive social research, that they received inconsistent and confusing information about how best to support their children’s development.

The focus of this guide is for professionals and practitioners to work from the same starting point, and to use a common language and provide consistent messages about the early years of child development.
