Apply to Construct a Driveway Crossover

If you are constructing a driveway or crossover you must obtain approval from Council before commencing any works.

Please be aware that application fees will apply (see related fees and charges).

Submit an application

Step 1.Create an account or log-in

Head to the NSW Planning Portal to login. Or follow the prompts to create an account.

Step 2.Apply

Once your account is set up, you can submit your applications via the portal.

Complete the online application under the 'Roads Act' application option. Once your initial details are complete, you will then be prompted to select the Section 138 application option. You can then complete the details as needed.

Step 3.Upload your documents

Your application must be submitted with a site plan showing the proposed driveway and crossover in relation to the boundary (including distances to the boundary and width and length of driveway and crossover).

Step 4.Lodge for review

Once the application is submitted through the Portal, an initial review will be carried out to check the information provided is sufficient for Council to accept.

If we need more information before the application can be accepted, an officer will contact you to request this information or for further clarification. Once adequate information is provided, the application can be accepted.

Step 5.Application is ready to be accepted

When the application has been reviewed and considered ready for lodgement, an invoice will be sent to you for payment of the associated fees.

Assessment of your application will not commence until the fees have been received by Council.

Step 6.Assessment of the application

Once fees have been paid, the application will be registered.

You will receive an automatic response when your application has been lodged into our system as well as when your application has been determined by Council.

A Council representative will inspect the site against the driveway plan to ensure there are no impediments before any works commence and issue an approval letter and consent conditions.

After the pre-pour works are complete, you will need to contact the Engineering Admin Officer on 03 5888 5100 to arrange a pre-pour inspection.

Approval documentation will be delivered to you via your Planning Portal account.

If you require any further information please contact us on 03 5888 5100 and speak with the Admin Officer - Engineering who will direct your call.
