Council bid farewell to its long standing General Manger last Friday. Rowan has served in local government for over 30 years; 23 of them as our GM. We wish Rowan and Janette all the best in their new chapter.
Council held interviews the CEO position last week and now have two candidates going to final interview with an appointment to be made today.
I attended the Cobram/Barooga Anzac Day luncheon. Guest speaker Jessica Muskett explained what Anzac Day meant to her and detailed her family’s long involvement in representing and protecting our country over 6 decades. With people of Jessica’s quality representing our country and training the next generation, we are in safe hands.
We held our revamped Business Awards last week. With over 150 in attendance the night was a great success. I want to congratulate all businesses across our Shire for providing goods and services during the pandemic. There were many challenges for different sectors and your resilience, innovation and downright hard work stood out during these tough times. We hope that lockdowns and border closures are a thing of the past, as we have done our share of the heavy lifting. It shows that where possible if you can shop local then all can benefit.
Dine and Discover vouchers through Service NSW have been a great success throughout Berrigan Shire. Check out the participating venues online and make sure that you use them before the 30th June cut-off date.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics have released their annual regional population data. The data shows that for the fifteenth year in a row Berrigan Shire has had steady and uninterrupted population growth. This shows that our Shire is a great place to Live, Work and Invest!
It has been great to see winter sport back in full swing. Both junior and senior competitions are a welcome sight with volunteers and spectators all excited to have sport back.
Finally, we are continuing to roll out our infrastructure projects. This, along with the many proposed upcoming events attracting visitors to our area during the holidays, will see our towns and communities start to recover in confidence and economically
