SHARED PATHWAYS FOR BAROOGA AND TOCUMWAL COMPLETE

Berrigan Shire Council is proud to officially open the new shared paths in Barooga and Tocumwal this week.

The 2.5m shared pathways project is a major improvement on the previous footpaths, providing accessibility to all and meeting the outcomes of our Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plans.

The Barooga shared path starts at Burkinshaw Street and finishes at Vermont Street. The Tocumwal shared path begins at Kelly Street and finishes at Centurian Track. Both track locations help keep people safe as they connect the walking tracks from out of the town centres with important locations in both towns.

Berrigan Shire Council Mayor, Matthew Hannan said “Providing safe and accessible footpaths is a great outcome for our communities. We are receiving positive feedback”.

Many thanks to the contractors and Council’s project team who completed these pathways in such a timely manner around Council’s busy Easter period.

Minister for Transport, the Hon Jo Haylen said “These new shared paths will make it easier for people to walk, cycle, scoot and cart through Tocumwal and Barooga. It'll give everyone the option to leave the car at home and enjoy the fresh air as they wander through this beautiful part of the world”.

“I’m pleased the NSW Government was able to contribute $720,000 to build these important new links” she said.
