COUNCIL TO IMPLEMENT A DIGITISED CEMETERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Over the last year, Council staff have been undertaking a complete service review of cemetery management. The review has highlighted the urgent need for the implementation of a cemetery management software.

At the July Ordinary Council Meeting, Council resolved to engage Chronical to implement the software with integrated mapping to streamline Council’s cemetery management function.

The cemetery management software will be introduced to assist with administrative management of Barooga, Berrigan, Finley and Tocumwal cemeteries.

Chronical will deliver detailed aerial mapping and photography of all known plots whilst consolidating plot data into the software program. This is set to take place during the first week of February 2024.

Mayor, Julia Cornwell McKean said this will help to significantly reduce the administrative side of cemetery management, whilst ensuring that the records are accurate and up to date.

“Once implemented, the cemetery management software will provide the community with real-time access to cemetery information via Council’s website,” she said.

It is expected the new cemetery management system will be up and running by mid 2024.
