October 2025 Mayor's Message
Published on 22 October 2025
As the days are getting longer and daylight savings has started it is great to see everyone getting out and about and our visitor numbers increasing.
On 13 November Berrigan Shire and Moira Shire Councils are jointly hosting a Tourism Networking Forum at the Tocumwal Brewery starting at 2PM. This is a great opportunity for businesses in our visitor economy to meet, learn and forge partnerships. RSVPs are encouraged – details are on our website.
I have been receiving feedback from members of the Barooga community for years about the challenges for pedestrians in Vermont Street. Council is seeking funding through the NSW Government’s Active Transport Program to improve pedestrian access and has some plans out for feedback. There will be pop-up information sessions outside the Barooga Local Post Office on Tuesday 21st October from 3 to 5PM and Thursday 23rd October from 11AM to 2PM. If you can’t make it, you can lodge your feedback directly via Council’s website at ‘Have your say’ by Friday 24 October. Your feedback will help Council demonstrate the importance the community places on pedestrian access and safety in Vermont Street.
Finally, I was pleased to let you all know that our libraries will be running a number of Tech Savvy Seniors sessions in Finley and Tocumwal over the coming months. It is not only an opportunity to connect with others, but you will learn the ins and outs of social media, cybersafety, online shopping and sending photos. Pop into the library and check out the schedules.
