The project will replace three existing timber bridges with reinforced steel bridges on the National Memorial WAAAF Creek Walk.
The proposed bridge upgrade locations are indicated on the map below and will replace:
- Bessies Bridge
- Robert Bridge and,
- Boardwalk Bridge.
The project is jointly funded by the Australian and New South Wales governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements. The need for bridge replacement stems from the impact of these flood events, which have compromised existing infrastructure.
Access to the National Memorial WAAAF Creek Walk will be restricted or closed at times during the construction period. Traffic management measures will be in place to ensure the safety of all pedestrian users. We kindly ask that you follow all signage and directions provided by traffic controllers at all times.
Estimated Start Date: Tuesday, 15 July 2025 (weather permitting)
Working Hours: 7:00am to 6:00pm, each day
Expected Duration: Approximately 4 weeks, weather permitting
