Riverbank Restoration Works
Berrigan Shire Council will be undertaking restoration works on the riverbank at the end of Buchanans Road, Barooga. The Barooga Water Treatment Plant sources raw water from the Murray River at this location.
Due to repeated flooding, the natural slope of the riverbank has suffered significant erosion, putting critical water infrastructure at risk. To protect the town’s water supply and prevent potential service disruptions, we will be restoring the riverbank near the water intake facility.
You may notice trucks transporting materials along Buchanans Road during the course of this work. Every effort will be made to minimise any inconvenience to residents.
Details of proposed work:
Location: End of Buchanans Road, Barooga
Expected Start Date: From 01 July 2025
Estimated Duration: Approximately 3 months
If you have any questions or concerns regarding these works, please contact Vageesh Nonavinakere, Operations Manager – Sustainability, by calling the Berrigan Shire office on (03) 5888 5100.
