Berrigan Shire Council is delivering the Tocumwal Booster Main project to improve the reliability and integration of Tocumwal's water supply network.

The project involves the installation and commissioning of approximately 790 metres of new 200mm PVC booster main between Hennessy Street and Bruce Birrel Drive. 

Regional Earth & Civil has been engaged as the Principal Contractor to undertake the works.

Construction activities will occur between September and October 2026, including site establishment, watermain installation, testing and commissioning, live watermain tie-ins, remediation and demobilisation.

Works will affect areas along:

  • Bruton Street
  • Charlotte Street
  • Park Street
  • Denison Street
  • Deniliquin Street
  • Hennessy Street
  • Bruce Birrel Drive

The majority of works will involve open trenching. Underboring will be undertaken beneath Denison Street, Deniliquin Street, Park Street and four residential driveways to minimise disruption.

Temporary traffic management and road closures will be required at various stages. Local access will be maintained wherever possible.

Three planned water supply shutdowns will also be required to complete connections to the existing water network.

Project outcomes

  • Supporting current and future development – the new booster main will allow new developments off Bruton Street to connect to the water network with sufficient water supply.
  • Protecting existing water supply – it will sustain the high quality of water pressure and supply for our existing properties alongside future growth.
  • Future-proofing the network – the upgrade will give Tocumwal’s water network greater capacity to support future growth.
  • Increasing network reliability – installing new infrastructure reduces the risk of leaks, pipe failures, and unplanned service disruptions for the community.
  • Maintaining consistent service – the new booster main will help stabilise water pressure for all users now and in the future during periods of peak daily demand.
  • Enhancing system efficiency – improving the hydraulic capacity of the network allows existing pump stations to operate more effectively and reduces maintenance over time.
