Berrigan Shire Council has engaged Public Works Australia to assist in preparing a Strategic Plan for water and sewerage services across Barooga, Tocumwal, Finley and Berrigan. The plan will align with the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) Regulatory and Assurance Framework to ensure our services remain safe, compliant and fit for the future.

What the plan aims to achieve

  • Provide safe, secure drinking water that protects public health, supports liveability and enables economic growth.
  • Deliver effective sewerage services that safeguard the environment and community wellbeing.
  • Ensure services meet the needs of residents and businesses.

What the plan will cover

The Strategic Plan will assess:

  • Current and future service needs
  • Water security
  • System capacity, capability and efficiency
  • Water quality
  • Environmental impacts
  • Key risks and challenges
  • Options and solutions for service delivery
  • Workforce and resourcing needs
  • Revenue sources and financial sustainability
  • Strategic decision‑making and pricing approaches

This work will guide long‑term planning and investment to ensure reliable, resilient and sustainable water and sewerage services for our communities.

We will be asking for community feedback during the process and appreciate residence time and input.
