Over the coming days, Berrigan Shire Council have engaged an independent bridge expert to conduct an audit of the two bridges that connect Cobram and Barooga.

Director Infrastructure, Rohit Srivastava said, “The bridge condition audit involves the assessment of concrete and non-destructive testing. It will allow Council to understand the accurate load bearing capacity of the bridges, which is essential to operations in our Shire.”

The audit is a first for bridges within the Berrigan Shire, marking the first time such a detailed assessment has been undertaken.

“The results of the report will allow Council to be in a better place to advocate for our community in regard to their needs, particularly around the interconnectivity between our border communities,” Mr Srivastava said.

There is expected to be little to no disruption to the community whilst the audit is underway, and Council look forward to being able to share results (and possible solutions) once the assessment report is received.
