Berrigan Shire Council have been successful in obtaining $158,481 from the Crown Reserves Improvement Fund to go towards the delivery of an upgraded net facility, including the replacement of the current cricket nets at the Barooga Recreation Reserve.

Mayor Matt Hannan said “This funding will allow the Council to deliver another keystone project identified in the Barooga Regional Multi-Sport Facility Master Plan.”

Mayor Hannan welcomed the funding which is tied to Council and community funding for the balance of the project.

“Council appreciates this funding support, particularly as we start to plan for flood and Covid Recovery. This will ensure our funds stretch as far as they can and still deliver on the needs of the community.” said Mayor Hannan.

“The Barooga Recreation Reserve Committee of Management and user groups have highlighted the upgrade of the cricket nets and practice facility as an important part of the redevelopment of this site.  The delivery of another part of the Master Plan sees the Barooga Regional Multi-Sport Facility move closer to a modern, well provisioned and functioning centre.” Mayor Hannan said.
