The project is segregated into two stages as below:
Stage 1: Road reconstruction works by Transport for NSW - complete. Transport for NSW will manage traffic management to guide school children across the road while the crossing is being moved. Detour below:
Stage 2: Footpath, pedestrian crossing, stormwater, watermains, landscaping, and accessibility upgrades by Berrigan Shire Council – beginning 07 July 2025. No detour in place, one lane to remain open at all times.
STAGE 2 UPDATE
✅ Chemist Access Maintained We’d like to acknowledge and thank our contractor, EGB, for going above and beyond to support the community. A safe, compliant temporary ramp has been built to maintain access to the Chemist while footpath works are underway. This effort has already received positive feedback from the community, and we’re pleased to see the care shown to keep local businesses accessible during construction.
Upcoming Asphalt Works
Pinnuck Street intersection (eastern side): Closed from Tuesday 23 September to Thursday 25 September for preparation, sealing, and asphalt works.
Murray Street: Reduced to one lane only on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 September. Traffic management will be in place—please allow extra time and follow signs.
Street Stall Shelter The community shelter is now back in place and already being used. An official notice will be shared once all works are fully complete.
We thank the community for their patience and support as these important upgrade works continue.
Scope of Works
As part of the connection of the new untreated water main, it will be necessary to temporarily shut off the untreated water supply for a period of up to four hours during the day. Affected residents and businesses will be notified well in advance via a letterbox drop. Following the completion of the connection, we recommend running your tap briefly to flush out any discoloured water that may be present in the pipes.
The parking spaces lost due to the new mid-block pedestrian crossing will be offset by spaces gained from the removal of the old crossing. We lost four parking spots for the new crossing but gained four by eliminating the old crossing and reducing the size of the raised island.
