Why is my street being resealed?

The resealing of your street is necessary to protect and extend the life of the road, while making it safe to use.

What to expect:

  • Signs warning you of loose stones and to reduce your speed.
  • Short delays when the bitumen is being sprayed and the stone is being spread over the bitumen.
  • In Urban areas the loose stones are swept to the gutter initially and street sweeper will remove loose stones off your street.
  • In rural areas loose stones are swept off the road and into the road shoulder.
  • A second sweep may occur if required.
  • Any line-marking that was on your street will be reinstated after two weeks.

How can you help:

  • Keep your street clear of parked vehicles until the resealing is completed (usually between 6:30am – 7:00pm)
  • Keep the street clear for a further 48 hours where possible to allow street sweepers to remove any loose stones.
  • Be Patient – we are concerned as you are to ensure this work is undertaken as safe and efficiently as possible with minimum disruption to all concerned.

Contractor expects to start on the 1st December through to the 5th December.

This is all weather dependent and contractor availability.
